Hi All,
Apologies for what may be a newbie question, but I'm trying to correct (?)
a problem with a Mandrake 8.1 installation on an IBM THinkpad a22p. I
seem to remember that the CD player worked fine upon initial install but
then quit at some point.
After a lot of feeling in the dark, I figured out that it was a devfs
distro and that somehow my cdrom had been mis-mapped from
/dev/cdrom -> cdroms/cdrom0
to
/dev/cdrom -> ../cdroms/cdrom0
(altho /dev/cdrom1 -> cdroms/cdrom1 in the correct way)
It may have been me that was responsible for this, but certainly don't
remember doing this directly..
At any rate, I can't get it to point back to the correct link, either by
deleting the link and re-establishing it, or by deleting and changing the
similar files that exist in /lib/dev-state.
Is there some magic trick to doing this?
Also, having found this list via google, I haven't found the subscriber
address either so until I do, I'd appreciate a direct reply as well as to
the list.
