devfsd and USB

Greetings,

Is there any plans to unify devfs and the usbdevfs?  Devfs and devfsd
seem to be positioned well to handle dynamic buses like USB.  However,
generic Linux 2.4 user-land USB access is currently performed using
usbdevfs, (like devfs), usb_permd (like devfsd), and libusb.

I've seen a lot of discussion about hot-swap devices and Linux lately,
though none from the devfs camp.  What plans exist for supporting things
like USB with devfs?
