OK, Im back at RH6.2 with 2.4.0-test11.
I have installed devfsd and its two config files.
I have the line '/sbin/devfsd /dev' early in rc.sysinit.
I boot the kernel with DEVFS enabled.
The boot goes along 'ok', with some complaints about /dev/tty0 not existing.
It runs thru the rc3.d init files, down thru 'starting linuxconfig' which is
the last
line in rc3.d, I then see
starting linuxconf [ ok ]
INIT: Id "1" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id "2" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id "3" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id "4" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id "5" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: Id "6" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
and then things hang for 5 minutes (if you are willing to wait), and we run
thru
the same messages again. There doesnt seem to be any way to break it loose
while it is paused.
So I ask again, what am I doing wrong?
