Extended testing showed a problem using spinlocks in the
CSA loadable module code. This code had been working with
Linux 2.4.0-test7, but has occasional problems with the
released Linux-2.4.0 code. The module spinlocks have been
replaced with semaphores. We've run our automated tests
continuously for three days and haven't seen any hangs using
semaphores. The symptom is that the system still responds to a
ping, but current login sessions and new login attempts are
unresponsive. The problem occurs during a disk write of an
accounting record.
The loadable module tarball with the spinlocks has been moved
into the download/old directory. A new tarball is available in the
download directory, csa-module-2.4.0.tar.gz, from the download
link at http://oss.sgi.com/projects/csa. I've also added a ChangeLog
file to the download directory to document changes.
